thinking of you

I made this today to send to a friend who is recovering from knee replacement surgery.

I really like how this one turned out. I used some textured card stock on the front, added some ribbon and silk flowers and attached them using colored brads. Then I colored in the heart and used some glitter around the outline of the heart.

I had to hand write on the back of the card as I don’t have a personalized stamp yet.

I also blocked off the words and stamped just the heart on the front of the envelope.

“My Love” Pop Up Birthday Card

My husband’s birthday is this coming Monday so I decided to make him a card. I had seen this pop up card on a blog and thought I would give it a try. Of course my stamping skills and color choices still have a lot to be desired, but I think the more I try the better I will get at doing this. So, here it is…

Pats BD card

I stamped My Love all over in red and then used my candle stamp across the front. I also added blue ribbon and little brass brads to the corners. I then distressed the candle part and the bottom below the scallop with gold rub paste and I roughed up the candle part by scraping it a bit.

inside bd card

On the inside I stamped some hearts at the bottom and top and then stamped candles, colored them and cut and placed them on each tier. You can’t see it in the photo’s but the flames have glitter on them.

Here is a side view of the little pop out steps. I also stamped the red hearts inside before assembly.

I give myself a B+ on this card. It isn’t perfect and it took me an hour and a half to finish, but it was made with love for my hubby! Not too shabby for my first greeting card…that is… totally out of my imagination.

Reindeer Christmas Cards in July

This past Saturday I went with Aura and Sheila to a card stamping party at Donna Reynolds home. She had everything set up ahead of time for everyone to make their own 5 Reindeer Christmas Cards. This was my first time ever making a card and it was so much fun and way easier than I expected. Donna is a Stampin Up distributor and she has these card parties every month until November. You make 5 each month and then you have 25 Christmas cards that you have handmade to send out at Christmas!

I really enjoyed making these cards and now I have the stamping bug. I cleared out a spot in my sewing room today so that I can make some of my own. Once I started organizing I realized how much stuff I already have to make cards! I have a Cricut machine which will help a lot! I have ink, stamps, card stock, ribbon, eyelets, velum, embossing powders, watercolors, colored markers, a light-box, dry embossing tools and plates, and much, much more! I now have it all organized and ready to go.

That’s all for now…gotta go stamp some cards!
