Embossed Foil Father’s Day Card

I purchased a digital subscription to Card Maker Magazine this past week and in their forum they have these weekly challenges to inspire you to try something new. This week it was to use an embossed foil background on any card of your choosing.  I had purchased all of the little tools on a sticker sheet at Walmart awhile back for only 15 cents! With Fathers Day coming up and this challenge it was the perfect opportunity to use them.

I took 2 pieces of card stock cut to the size of my card front and then cut one into 4 equal sections lengthwise. I then cut the other one into equal sections horizontally.

I wrapped each with foil. I then embossed the vertical sections using my Cuttlebug and the Fiskars Brick embossing plate. Then I embossed the horizontal sections using the Fiskars Squares embossing plate. Then I weaved them in and out of each other, adhering them as I went.

Next I adhered it to my card front and cut equal sections of my card stock as a border and attached those with the copper brads. I stamped out the message and trimmed the corners and used pop dots to attach it to the front. Then I placed all of the tools to the front.

After that I adhered the completed card front to my white card stock for the card. I had one toolbox sticker left and I placed it inside on the bottom left corner of the right side. I will then hand write a message inside to my hubby.

“My Love” Pop Up Birthday Card

My husband’s birthday is this coming Monday so I decided to make him a card. I had seen this pop up card on a blog and thought I would give it a try. Of course my stamping skills and color choices still have a lot to be desired, but I think the more I try the better I will get at doing this. So, here it is…

Pats BD card

I stamped My Love all over in red and then used my candle stamp across the front. I also added blue ribbon and little brass brads to the corners. I then distressed the candle part and the bottom below the scallop with gold rub paste and I roughed up the candle part by scraping it a bit.

On the inside I stamped some hearts at the bottom and top and then stamped candles, colored them and cut and placed them on each tier. You can’t see it in the photo’s but the flames have glitter on them.

Here is a side view of the little pop out steps. I also stamped the red hearts inside before assembly.

I give myself a B+ on this card. It isn’t perfect and it took me an hour and a half to finish, but it was made with love for my hubby! Not too shabby for my first greeting card…that is… totally out of my imagination.
